All UltiMaker materials are NFC-tagged. Therefore, UltiMaker materials are automatically detected and read by the Material Station. If the printer is connected, the loaded configurations are visible in UltiMaker Cura and on your printer management page in the UltiMaker Digital Factory. I attached the NFC tag (written per filament brand/type/color, using all the great information from this thread) to the inside left side of the material station bays. In this location, the NFC tags are recognized and updated.
It is always possible to manually override the material type, even for NFC-detected materials. If you have prepared a print job for generic material, but you only have UltiMaker materials loaded in the Material Station, you can manually change the material type in the Configuration menu.NFC detection.
