I'd like to add NFC tags to some of the common material I buy. Ideally I could set it up to be a profile in cura, buy a couple of cheap NFC tags that i label appropriately, and slap them on spools when I load them so my material station knows whats-what. Is it possible to do this?All UltiMaker materials are NFC-tagged. Therefore, UltiMaker materials are automatically detected and read by the Material Station. If the printer is connected, the loaded configurations are visible in UltiMaker Cura and on your printer management page in the UltiMaker Digital Factory. I attached the NFC tag (written per filament brand/type/color, using all the great information from this thread) to the inside left side of the material station bays. In this location, the NFC tags are recognized and updated.
It is always possible to manually override the material type, even for NFC-detected materials. If you have prepared a print job for generic material, but you only have UltiMaker materials loaded in the Material Station, you can manually change the material type in the Configuration menu.

I was curious as to what was on the NFC tag on an empty roll of Ultimaker Tough PLA so I scanned it. Here is what came up. ID (hex): 81 5e 32 22 c1 56 04 ID (reversed hex): 04 56 c1 22 32 5e 81 ID (dec): 36413841420146180 ID (reversed dec): 1221287409245825 Technologies: NfcA, MifareUltralight, NdefFormatable Mifare Ultralight type: Ultralight C
Place a NTAG216 compatible tag (also referred to as a MIFARE Ultralight tag) on the reader. Use the 'Read Tag' button to read the material on a tag, and the 'Write Tag' button to write the selected material to a tag. Note: You can also overwrite used UM .
